What are you REALLY saying?!

Think back to a time when someone said something to you that was one of the nicest things that has ever been spoken to you. That special memory will be with you forever and still makes you smile when you think about it. Now think back to another time when something that was said to you crushed your spirit and caused you to weep with the mean or harsh words that were spoken. Once a word is spoken, it can never be unspoken.
There is so much power in our words. Think about it: Words (our Holy Bible) are all God left us (along with His Holy Spirit) – they’re important!!
*Interesting Note for young people* The very first thing mentioned for Christian youth to lead by example is “in word, in conversation,…” (I Timothy 4:12)

Let’s talk about the path of excellence with our words:

The PURITY of our words. (Proverbs 8:6 “right things”)

Don’t play around with crass language, or words that take the place of curse words. Our words should be acceptable in God’s sight. (Psalm 19:14) “All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.” Proverbs 8:8 “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.” Ephesians 4:29

The POWER of our words. Speak Truth! (Proverbs 8:6-7)

Your tongue can cause a person to succeed or fail! Your words can bring someone to Jesus Christ or drive them away! There is so much power in the words we speak, whether for good or for bad. Proverbs 18:21 says that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” Proverbs 12:25 “Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad."

Your words can change someone’s day! Your witness for Jesus Christ can change someone’s eternity!

The PRECIOUSNESS of our words.

Kind encouraging words can be one of the nicest gifts that you can ever give or receive. (Proverbs 25:11 “a word fitly spoken”) Proverbs 15:23 “a word spoken in due season, how good is it!

You may not have a lot of money to buy lavish gifts, but the genuine gift of your words (written or spoken) is a present that the receiver can enjoy and treasure for years to come.

The PLAINNESS of our words. (Proverbs 8:8-9)

Say what you mean, mean what you say. (James 3:10) No flattery. No fakeness. (Matthew 5:37, James 5:12) If you say “yes” then follow through. If you say “no” then follow through. In Matthew 12:36, the Word of God makes it clear that we will be held accountable for every idle word.

Don’t allow empty words from your lips that have no usefulness or benefit in light of eternity. Speak plain and truthful words.

The PROSPECT of our words.

The Bible says that our words are a reflection of our heart to show what kind of person we truly are. (Luke 6:45) We will give account for our words at the judgment (Matthew 12:36-37) “…For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” Our words should be used to guide and instruct others. (Proverbs 8:8-10)

The word of our testimony and the Blood of Jesus Christ is what overcomes the Devil, the accuser of the brethren! “And they overcame him …by the word of their testimony…” Revelation 12:11 Think about that! What a prospect our words hold!

So, what are you REALLY saying?! What do YOUR words reveal about you? As Christian Ladies, let us always choose the PATH OF EXCELLENCE!
